NEET is one of the biggest entrance tests which students take for admissions in top engineering colleges across India, mainly Indian Institutes of Technology. The exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency with some changes in the pattern. It is a computer–based exam and will be conducted twice in the year, in January and April. The registration process for the first session has already started and students can register for the exam on jeemain.nic.in, till the end of September. For the second session, registrations will start in the month of February. Results of both the sessions will be released in the month of January and April, respectively.

Every year lakhs of students appear for JEE and the expected number this year is almost 1 Million. Therefore, it is important for students to get cut–off marks, to appear in JEE Advanced and be eligible for admissions to the IITs.

Few things to keep in mind before you register for the exam:

  • Students can register for both the exam sessions and only the best score out of the two will be considered for the merit list.
  • Three JEE Main papers will be conducted for B.E⁄B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning.
  • For B.E.⁄B.Tech. students the exams has three sections, Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and equal weightage is given to all the three subjects. For B.Arch. students, the exam is divided into three parts of Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing. For B.Planning students, the exam again has three parts of Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Planning Based Questions.
  • Two types of questions will be asked in the exam – Multiple Choice Question and Numerical Value type.
  • The exam will be conducted in the Computer Based Test mode only, except for the B.Arch. third drawing test, for which the students will be given an A4 drawing sheet.
  • The B.Tech. exam will be of total 300 marks and, B.Arch and B.Planning both of 400 marks.
  • The marking pattern is still the same: +4 for the right answer, -1 for the wrong answer and 0 for no answer.
